Guiding New Careers

Become a Mentor

Being a mentor in the workplace is arguably one of the most important relationships in the guidance of a young Apprentice.

Whilst AutoRaise will be doing everything they can to encourage businesses to recruit new Apprentices, we also have to ensure that everyone involved has a good experience and that they make the journey through and out the other side of the Apprenticeship to become a valued member of the business and the industry.

A mentor won’t necessarily work in the same department as the Apprentice, but they will take on the responsibility of helping them keep on top of college work, gathering evidence, seeking support from colleagues on behalf of the Apprentice and generally helping them to keep on track.

Leaving school, getting your first job, having to make new friends and acquaintances, meeting new people, learning new skills and behaviours, getting to work, travelling to college; all of this can be incredibly daunting for a young person.
