BRIT (Body Repair Industry Trailblazer), the group formed by the merging of the AutoRaise and Collision Repair Sector Group to provide continual development and management of the five new Apprenticeship Standards they created individually; (Paint Technician/Panel Technician/MET Technician/Accident Repair Technician/Vehicle Damage Assessor) have elected a new Chair; Steve Hoe, Technical Development and VM Executive, from AW powered by Steer Group.
Christine Maskill has decided to concentrate on her own business and family so has now stepped away from BRIT. Steve Hoe said, “After working alongside Christine as Vice Chair over the past year, I was sad to see her step down. It was great working with Christine, and I thank her for the commitment and great work achieved to date. It is a real privilege for me to be announced as Chair, working with an incredible group of people from across the industry, with a wealth of knowledge and experience with one common goal – managing and developing standards that are future proof ready for new talent joining our wonderful industry.”
The BRIT group has grown over the last 18 months and now comprises of 40 members from across the whole spectrum of the UK vehicle repair industry, 25 of whom are employers of apprentices. There are also subgroups for each of the 5 standards chaired by BRIT members and working alongside volunteers from the vehicle repair industry.
BRIT have taken responsibility of ensuring these Standards remain current and compatible with the ever-evolving vehicle repair industry. It is imperative that the industry secure every apprenticeship opportunity and that it uses all these standards as building blocks for the development of a sustainable competent resourced sector for the future. BRIT will continue being funded by AutoRaise who will remain on hand to facilitate meetings and communications to the industry, and to the relevant government departments involved with apprenticeships.
