Young People – The ONLY Solution

AutoRaise with the help of Venue View have been busy behind-the-scenes seeking volunteer apprentices from our Affiliated Repairer Network to bring together an exciting virtual bodyshop tour. The work was carried out during a period where bodyshops were getting back to normal volumes; but repairers nevertheless recognised that to showcase some of the daily tasks an apprentice does, will go a long way in demonstrating the diversity involved in the vehicle repair industry and hopefully attract more young people to it.

“We are still feeling the impact of the pandemic and clearly there are going to be lower levels of confidence about future employment opportunities right now, however, now is the time as is demonstrated in the number of available vacancies out there” explains Jen Evans, AutoRaise Business Executive, “I am already having extremely encouraging discussions with numerous repairer businesses about the future and it is 100% clear that apprenticeships are the future for those businesses. The governments incentive schemes will be key to this and we need to start preparing for post pandemic now.”

The government continue to offer apprenticeship incentive schemes whereby employers and training providers will be rewarded for taking on and retaining apprentices and have continued to announce their support of apprenticeships as employer’s best way of future proofing their business. Up until the end of September 2021, employers can gain up to £4000 per apprentice, therefore now is the time to step up recruitment campaigns.

Furthermore, AutoRaise are working with four organisations on transferring their apprenticeship levy to repairers with tremendous results; the time is certainly NOW!

Steve Thompson, Vice Chair said:

“This project has been a mammoth one, but one that we are extremely proud of and we would like to extend our utmost gratitude to our apprentices and repairers for taking time out to put their videos together. My only request is that people share the tour with their broader networks as it is so important to attract the young talent into our industry.

AutoRaise will have a permanent link on their website and the tour will be shared on social media as well as with their own network of careers advisors within secondary schools and FE colleges. To view the tour, click here https://my.matterport.com/show/?m=xagSMVUhQu3
