As we approach the close of the year, we're reflecting on some inspiring stories, initiatives, and developments within the automotive repair sector.
From celebrating new apprentices and ambitious athletic challenges to industry-focused insights on the recent budget, our November updates showcase the impact of community efforts to tackle the skills shortage.
Here’s a look at what’s happening:
Celebrating Max and His New Toolbox
Congratulations to Max Norstrom, the winner of our AutoRaise toolbox giveaway! Max is already planning a room makeover to accommodate his prize, even planning to rebuild his DIY workstation to make space for his new toolkit. This exciting win reminds us of the community we’re building here at AutoRaise. Stay tuned for more chances to join our community and get involved.
Alex’s Triathlon Challenge:
A Journey for a Cause
Alex Davis from Equate Group is pushing boundaries with his goal to complete triathlons in all 78 UK cities over the course of a year, raising funds for three charities, including AutoRaise. Each triathlon brings new adventures and opportunities to raise awareness for industry apprenticeships and support the next generation. From early morning swims to twilight runs, Alex’s journey is a testament to determination and passion. Follow his journey and support him on JustGiving as he brings us closer to a future filled with skilled, passionate automotive professionals.
Budget Boost for Apprenticeships and Industry Impact
AutoRaise is pleased to see the government’s latest budget announcement, including a £300 million investment in Further Education and an increase in the employment allowance to £10,500 for smaller employers. These measures signal a step forward in supporting skills development and creating a stronger foundation for apprenticeships across various industries, including our own.
While these initiatives provide valuable financial support, we also recognise that businesses continue to face challenges when it comes to funding apprentice salaries. To address these needs and drive even greater support for young talent, AutoRaise is exploring innovative strategies to encourage youth employment in our sector. We’re committed to finding ways to make the employment of apprentices more accessible and impactful for businesses, with further details to be announced as we approach our relaunch early next year.
If you’d like to discuss how the recent budget could impact your business, or to share your views on how we can further support apprenticeships in the industry, we’re here to listen. AutoRaise is dedicated to amplifying the voices of industry professionals in these discussions, advocating for solutions that will benefit our sector and its future workforce.
Gemini Accident Repair Centres’
Rally Car Donation
We’re thrilled to announce that Gemini Accident Repair Centres has donated 15 rally vehicles to EMTEC College, providing invaluable training resources for future technicians. Originally part of the AutoRaise charity rally, these vehicles are now helping students gain hands-on experience in vehicle stripping, panel beating, and more. We’re grateful to Gemini for setting a fantastic example of industry support and look forward to seeing how these students will use this opportunity to build their skills and careers.
Gemini Accident Repair Centres – A FRESH APPROACH TO ACCIDENT REPAIR
Connecting at the NBRA Event
Emma Speed also recently attended the NBRA networking event at Bolton Wanderers, where members and suppliers from across the sector gathered to forge valuable connections and share insights. As the UK’s only trade association for car body repairers, the NBRA plays an essential role in uniting industry professionals and advocating for the advancement of body repair standards.

Hands-On Learning: Vella Group’s Apprentice Respray Challenge
Our partners at Vella Group recently put their second-year apprentices to the test with a respray challenge, allowing them to tackle a repair job from start to finish. With support from their tutor and Vella’s Technical Training Manager, Allan Wareing, these apprentices gained practical skills and valuable experience, demonstrating the incredible talent and commitment developing within our industry.
We’re excited about what’s ahead as we continue to champion apprenticeships and industry growth.
Together, we’re building a brighter future for the vehicle repair sector, one apprentice at a time.
