Richard Hammond on Why Apprenticeships Matter

We’re delighted to share a new short video from our patron, Richard Hammond, who has recorded a personal message in support of AutoRaise — and the work we do to get young people into meaningful careers in vehicle repair.

In his unmistakable style, Richard reminds us that behind every repaired car is a technician who was trained, supported, and given a chance — and that’s exactly what AutoRaise exists to do.

“I’ve spent a lot of my life around cars—driving them, breaking them, fixing them… occasionally crashing them,” he says in the video. “But I couldn’t do any of it without the skilled people who fix them up again. That’s where AutoRaise comes in.”

Richard’s message shines a light on the importance of apprenticeships, the impact of membership, and the real-world barriers young people face when entering the industry — from starter kits and travel costs, to tools and training.

When you become an AutoRaise member, you’re not just joining a network of industry leaders — you’re actively helping to fund the AutoRaise Bursary, supporting apprentices and the repairers who take them on.

It’s a small commitment with lasting impact.
